Simultaneous Interpreting

Communication is the key factor in the success of any conference.

For an international conference, the need to overcome a language barrier can be critical. In fact, many members with poor English competence may be reluctant to attend if some language assistance is not offered.

Simultaneous interpreting is a highly skilled profession. The simultaneous interpreter needs to listen, process and then translate the spoken word with total fluency and with as little delay as possible between the received language and the target language. It is extremely exhausting for any human being to accomplish successfully for extended periods and, as a consequence, interpreters often work together in teams.

Simultaneous interpreting requires interpreters to work in teams of 2 or 3 in sound-proof booths. Interpreters interpret what the speaker is saying as he/she is saying it into a microphone, and the audience listens through headsets.
